A business in today’s world can’t survive without content. Yet I meet so many people who don’t have a plan for the format, message, or frequency of their content.
If your business has a website, you must have content. If you’re trying to reach people online, you must have a strategy to do it.
In order to keep up and stay ahead of your competition, you must be present in order to succeed. How do you stay present? By frequently providing quality content to your target audience.
Search engines take notice of you online based on quality content. The more quality content you have, the better your rankings. If you don’t provide content at all or you regurgitate existing content, you will be penalized.
Some important things to consider in regards to your content:
Who is your target audience? Is it baby boomers? Teens? Small business owners?
What is your message? Besides selling your products and services, make sure you connect with your target audience. Provide them with tips and advice that will benefit them or their business to keep them coming back for more.
How will you distribute your content? Will it be articles on your website, a blog, social media posts, newsletters, or emails? How often will that content be updated? Daily? Weekly?
By taking the time to create a content strategy, you will provide a line of communication with your target audience on a regular basis and improve traffic to your site by making the search engines happy.
